how have i not seen this before??? 2 gay guys in buenos aires, and wong kar wai<br />not as beautiful as i anticipated, because it is mostly filmed in those washed out colors<br />but there are 2 breathtakingly beautiful scenes, like so beautiful that i actually wanted to cry<br /><br />1. when Leslie Cheung leans on Tony Leung in the back of a cab as the city lights of Buenos Aires go by behind them and a tango is playing. That scene could have gone on for minutes, hours as far as I am concerned. It's that scene from the cover.<br /><br />2. When they practice tango in a large white kitchen, still washed out, but so cool

how the thoughts in your head seem such a mess as they keep bouncing off the inside of your skull, but as soon as you are able to speak them out loud they surprise you by coming out coherent, fairly eloquent, and surprisingly meaningful. Man, I turn myself on with these profound conclusions. :)

quite possibly the worst movie i have ever seen. it was so obviously made as a showcase for orlando bloom's cuteness. and he is, but you cant not write a script because your lead actor is cute, and just tell susan sarandon to tap dance a little. what the hell is that??

do you think people who keep diaries (I mean real ones, not these fake online ones) secretly want them to be found and read? Are there things you could read in someone's diary that could make you like them less, if you already like them? I think I would just be tempted to rationalize everything I read. I think I am tempted to rationalize everything anyway. Lately I've been amazed by my own ability to make everything fit neatly into a little perspective box that is so obviously of my own making. I am so unsure of whats real and whats in my head. I suspect thats not so good. :)

funny moments

in a huge internet cafe on the second floor on yonge street, 2 minutes ago random chicken noises started coming from the window side. And getting louder! we all turned! It was a cell phone! Why would you have your phone sound programmed to "chicken"??<br />I don't know!<br />another mystery: why would a catering service in belgium be called Kitchen Bitch?

ok so virgin atlantic apparently rocks, but let me tell you being stuck in a seat which does not recline and amid a group of very loud lebanese who keep yelling over you, and a flight with 300 million babies, yeah all that, not so great!<br />its weird how different perspective changes things. i remember landing at heathrow 8 years ago and thinking it pretty snazzy. well now i just think its a bit ghetto. although i did sleep for about 2 hours, so that's good. maybe i will just update this from random airports from now on??

i've been bad with returning stuff to the library and my late fees are pushing $10. that's the magic number, after 10, they dont let you take out any stuff unless you pay. so the other day i go in and there is this dorky 16-yr-old-looking kid and he is all shy-flirting with me. can't find my copy of baadasssss (how sad is it that i just had to look up the number of s's in baadasssss - it's 5!), but after the movie talk he goes out of his way to reorder baadasssss for me. cool! then today, it's a few days later and i want to check if anything is due, so i dont go over 10, but when i log on, there is $0 in chages. the dorky kid must have erased it all. Way to go dorky kid! the damn lesbian librarians would never have done that, they always trying to guilt me into paying.

love and evil plans

last night while we were eating dinner, scott walked in and announced "I am in love with another man's girl!" we were then full of support and coined plans on how he can steal her away during the concert tonight. It was free of all judgment and we referenced various 80s songs for ideas. It was sublime! Go Scott, go!

sometimes things don't feel right for weeks, you waste days, you slack, there is a general unease in the air, and then some plan falls through and you find yourself walking through the badly lit streets of the college town you call home. and it's a perfect college town, with small shops, political offices, aging hippies who have now become college professors sitting in outdoor cafes and uttering phrases like "now, this was in the early 70s, you see" just in time for you to hear as you walk by. and then you pick up a Dubravka Ugresic book and it seeps with bitterness and cynicism of the best kind, and you read about how she could have been Ivana Trump and about why Paulo Coelho and Umberto Eco are the authors of choice for nudists, and a million other things and you laugh, and you walk home with a huge smile because all is well with the world, you have found what you've been missing.

nail clipping in public spaces, especially in offices is the grossest possible thing you can do. it trumps pissing on walls, it trumps old people getting it on. it is just indescribably disgusting and should be banned. offenders should be made to eat their own nail clippings. make it stop!

but it seems to be in vogue for a guy trying to impress me to elaborate on a gayness theme. a while ago it was someone telling me of his lust for vincent perez. and then last night there was a guy talking about his fascination with a gay hairdresser orgy in one of the andy warhol flicks. I mean i dig it! I dig it very much, but how do they know this during the first conversation (during which i mention nothing of my robert rodi collection)? or is this an established turn on?

you dont have a monopoly on 'crazy'

when you meet people and hang out with them a certain dynamic develops after some time. it may (for example) become obvious that one of you is crazy and the other one 'normal.' the license to do just about anything comes along with the label "crazy." overreacting, plotting evil deeds, all of these become acceptable and the normal person can just shake their head and say "aw, you crazy, dog!" but... there comes a time when the crazy person steps over the line, yells at a normal, tolerant person, and then, then, you have to say:<br />"dude, you don't have a monopoly on crazy" and freak the hell out of 'crazy.' after this the dynamic is forever changed, and believe you me, crazy will fear and respect you!
